Mt. Ascutney State Park is located in the southeastern Vermont town of Windsor and in southwest New Hampshire. The park season runs from May 20-October 16. The Mt. Ascutney Parkway is a 3.7 mile paved toll road. The peak is at an elevation of 3144 feet. There are scenic pullouts along the auto toll road for picture taking.
The park has an extensive hiking trail system, campgrounds, an observation tower and hang gliding launch sites.
There are at least 2 weekends a year that the auto toll road is closed to the public. One of the weekends in September is reserved by MaxBMW for the Ascutney Hill Climb Time Trials. http://climbascutney.com/ The time trials (open to motorcycles and autos) travel up a 2300 elevation climb on the 3.7 miles of twisting paved road. Be sure to check the park’s website for current information on closures.
